A Quiet Cliffside Elopement at Flinders Cliffs

There’s something so special about weddings that don’t feel performative.

No pressure.
No giant timelines.
No expectations to entertain hundreds of people.

Just two people, surrounded by the ocean breeze, meaningful vows, and the people closest to them.

Today, I had the pleasure of stepping back into the world of wedding and elopement photography after taking a long break from it. If I’m honest, I had slowly steered away from weddings over the years because of how high-energy and fast-paced traditional wedding days can sometimes feel.

But this elopement reminded me why intimate weddings are so beautiful.

Celebrant ~ Maureen from @elopearoundmelbourne

Set along the breathtaking Flinders Cliffs on a quiet sunny afternoon, Desmayani & Michele celebrated their love in the most peaceful and genuine way possible. The cliffs overlooked the ocean, the wind softly moved through the grass, and every interaction throughout the day felt natural, calm, and full of meaning.

No rushing.
No forced moments.
Just real connection.

I had the opportunity to capture content videos throughout the day alongside an incredibly talented wedding photographer, who allowed me to take a few portfolio photographs of my own as well. It was such a refreshing experience creatively, being able to document both the emotion and atmosphere of the day through a mix of wedding content creation and candid elopement photography.

One of my favourite parts of intimate weddings and elopements is how personal every detail feels. From the heartfelt vows to the quiet picnic celebration overlooking the cliffs, every moment felt intentional and deeply connected to who Desmayani & Michele are as a couple.

And honestly?
That’s the kind of storytelling I love capturing most.

As a commercial photographer and content creator I usually shoot posed and strictly directed shoots. So I’m always drawn to moments like this that feel real and spontaneous. The laughter between conversations, the nervous smiles before vows, the wind catching the veil, the little in-between moments people don’t realise are happening; those are usually the memories that end up meaning the most.

This beautiful day reminded me that wedding photography doesn’t always have to feel overwhelming or extravagant. Sometimes the quietest celebrations leave the biggest impact.

Congratulations again to the lovely newlyweds, Desmayani & Michele. Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of such a meaningful day and for unknowingly helping me reconnect with wedding photography again.
